The Replica SK1 Chair is based on the design by Sami Kallio for &tradition, which highlights the interaction between positive and negative space. Kallio’s chair design, called In Between, features back and side panels that provide structure and support, but also creates forms through the spaces in between. The chair showcases Kallio’s proficiency in traditional woodworking techniques through the use of compression molding and woodturning to achieve a lightweight, yet sturdy construction with intricate details. As a designer with a strong foundation in Scandinavian woodworking techniques and a keen eye for clever details, Kallio was the perfect fit to create &tradition’s first wooden chair.
